The best customer feedback 45 of 45 people found this review helpful. Great for updating the CJ Roebuck F700BT initially for 2 weeks and although I liked what I sent back because of the following questions. First It had all the same problems described in avic411 forum but was not sure he wanted to wait for a firmware update. These problems mentioned in other reviews. Second There was no quick way to divert / forward if you have seen traffic ahead third MSN Direct can not be added later so I went back and ordered this F900BT. The waiting list was long, because Pioneer was working on fixing the many problems. Now I had to install the update for a week and went on a 17hr road trip to test it thoroughly. Now I am happy to say that this team does the music my previous expectations months ago. Sound: Better than my factory, of course, with the usual Pioneer equalizers, such as low-powerful, super, etc.. Display: Preupdate saw on the screen well in the shade and washed a lot of sunlight, but after the update I see it much better with dimmed icons splash / boot screen can be customized with a jpg with the SD card or USB drive. The button light can also be customized to match your decor. The sensitivity is ok after starting. But sometimes it can be picky. Nav: Nav is fun. I come from a Garmin Nuvi 200 and a Kenwood 5120th Since the 900 comes with Bluetooth, you can call the sights of the device with one touch. You can make a trip / route with stop / waypoints and go with them. You can preplan toilet and food breaks or site-see. There is a representation of the progress and route information. This screen can show you your progress along the route of the miles or hours left to the left or you can travel as turn by turn. Your map screen can show you a lot of info such as speed limit, your speed, next turn and second turn, time to destination/turn and estimated arrival The only annoying them after the update is the green turn boxes stay on screen even if you have no route in. Another minor thing is the voice prompts happen to frequently, you'll notice this when entering/exiting a hwy or approaching a turn. There is also a button on the corner that shows what your currently listening to, that you can press and be sent to that screen. For instance, if its ipod, the current song will show on bottom along with album art. If you press the button it will take you to the main ipod screen with all the info. There are also tons of POIs in the unit, you can find them by: along route, near cursur, near destination, by current position. There is also a shortcut to POIs if you're just cruising around. Press the info button on right side of map, this will show you a zoomed out image of where you are. From here you can save your location or press "info" and it'll tell you all the POIs near you You can also turn on speed warnings where it'll warn you when you're speeding. In the future Pioneer will introduce a POI creator. I'm not sure if this will enable proximity alerts such as Garmin's red light/speed cam warnings. HD radio (add-on): First, Pioneer does not tell you this but you need an antenna splitter or additional antenna for HD Radio Tuner to work. I got one off Ebay for $6 shipped. The antenna goes to HD and stereo, stereo needs it for MSN to work but if you're not using MSN then its fine. Pioneer told me this was aimed at the F700 since it doesn't have MSN, but anyway. Ok, I'm in Raleigh and we have about 12 HD channels and they sound GOOD. It was like night and day when I put my antenna back into stereo while waiting for the splitter. Plus with the $50 HD rebate this was a cheap upgrade. HD integrates into interface and takes control of FM/AM if no splitter is present. When you select the HD source you'll get 3 sets of FM presets and 1 set of AM presets If you have a splitter this number is doubled because the FM source has its own 3 sets. Things work as expected.
SIRIUS Sportster 4 Satellite Radio Receiver with Car Kit
Now you you can keep up with all of the great play-by-play action on SIRIUS with the Sportster Replay SP4-TK1 plug-and-play satellite radio. It lets you pause and rewind live broadcasts, so you'll never miss a second of the big game. It also has some great features that'll enhance coverage of your favorite teams, and it delivers the rest of SIRIUS's peerless entertainment options. To make sure you're on top of your favorite teams, program Game Alert to let you know whenever your favorite NFL, NBA, NHL, and college team is about to take the field. With NFL broadcasts, you can even choose whether you want to listen to the home or away announcers. The SP4-TK1 automatically records the last 44 minutes of the channel you're listening to. Just hit the Rewind button to get an instant replay of the game-winning touchdown, or press Pause if, say, you're interrupted by a phone call. The 44-minute memory clears every time you change the channel or turn the SP4-TK1 off. And if you're driving to a game, you can program the front-panel Jump button to go directly to your SIRIUS traffic and weather channel to get traffic updates. Features a suction-cup mount that'll attach to any reasonably flat glass surface. Its auxiliary input lets you connect and play your portable MP3 player. A car power adapter and a roof-mount antenna round out the package.

Get in the game with the plug-and-play Sirius Sportster 4 satellite radio receiver, which sports a new slim profile while still maintaining the same great features for which the Sportster series is known. Just like other Sirius-compatible receivers, the Sportster 4 offers a large, easy-to-read display, a rotary tuning knob, and accessible buttons, but now moves seamlessly into your car, home, or boombox. More significantly, the Sportster 4 maximizes the listening experience of Sirius radio's broad sports lineup, with the ability to decode the incoming Sirius digital-quality signal from more than 120 music, news, and sports channels. It's also easily transportable, and thanks to the bundled car kit, lets you listen to your favorite satellite radio programs while driving. An easy-to-read, six-line display tells you the channel name and number, category, artist name, song title, and time simultaneously. The receiver also lets you program up to 30 presets of your favorite streams, as well as search by stream, artist name, song title, or category. And with a quick press of the One-Touch Jump button, you can instantly switch between the traffic and weather reports for your city or any of the other music, news, or entertainment channels. Other programming details include an S-Seek function that stores your favorite artists and songs and alerts you when one is playing on any of the music channels, direct station tuning via the numeric buttons, and a channel lock option. Time functions, meanwhile, include an onscreen clock, alarm, and sleep timer, as well as a program alert that allows the unit to switch to a preprogrammed stream at a selected time. The Sportster 4 really earns its stripes, however, with its variety of enhanced features designed specifically for sports lovers. The Game Alert feature prompts you when your favorite NFL or other sports teams are playing on Sirius. The Game Zone lists all of your favorite teams in one virtual category and lets you select a different team from each of the various sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, NHL, and college sports. And what sports fan could do without the Sportster's instant replay function, which lets you pause, rewind, and replay 44 minutes of live radio? As soon as you tune to a channel, the receiver automatically begins storing the audio for later playback. The Sportster 4 also includes a built-in FM transmitter that sends Sirius radio programming to your vehicle's FM tuner, so you don't have to make a direct connection to enjoy the full array of channels. Simply set an empty FM frequency on your radio and tune the Sportster 4 to the same frequency. This function also works with other FM tuners, such as the one on your home stereo, but is easily paired with the car thanks to the bundled vehicle kit, which includes everything you need for listening to Sirius while driving. Components include a vehicle docking station, a suction cup mount, a vent mount, a DC power supply that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter, a roof-mount antenna, and mounting hardware. Sirius satellite radio is a subscription service that provides more than 120 channels of programming, from digital-quality music to news, talk, and sports. It is available only in the lower 48 states--not in Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories. The Sportster 4, which measures 4.5 by 2.9 by 0.6 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Sportster 4 satellite radio receiver, wireless remote control, lithium battery, vehicle docking station, roof-mount antenna, suction cup mount, vent mount, cigarette lighter power adapter, mounting hardware, installation guide, Sirius channel information card, user's manual.

Do not buy this unless you want to bind directly to the antenna in the car or radio. I bought this unit in October last year to play college football games during long car trips. This is my first introduction to satellite radio. I have mixed feelings about the product. First and foremost, the unit was relatively easy to operate. I connected the power and satellite, lit it and select a free FM station in the Configuration menu of the device. And the 'pre-tuned to a test station (National Weather). I had a clear signal from the satellite so that only the antenna rests on the dashboard. I activated online for a couple of times (he had power in the first attempt). But FM broadcast from the device to my car stereo was terrible, no-limit to be used. Even after choosing a completely clear FM station, turn off the car, waving the unit around until I found a sweet-spot, and fingers crossed, there was always noticeable and very disruptive static interference Based on what I read, apparently the FM transmission strength in unity for the lower than previous models. Said the model SP-TK2 has a much stronger signal. I was not able to determine whether or not that had anything to do with FCC regulations. For my vehicle, I have overcome the shortcomings FM transmitter by connecting the camera directly at the entrance to Alpine Ai-net/Changer on my radio and using the AUX function. This step eliminated all outside interference and static bypassed FM modulation completely. However, part of my attraction to this unit was the Plug and Play. My friends and I took the road to several trips this year and I brought with me the Sirius unit. The cars we used did not have A/V inputs, so we had to make due with the lousy FM transmitter We were able to fight through the static for the sports and talk radio stations, but music was un-listenable. The unit itself is ok. It's easy to use and the screen has a lot of info. It keeps track of all the scores in sporting events, show and host for talk stations, and song/artist for music stations. It's awkward to mount though, because all of the wires plug into the back of the dock, not the bottom. You need clearance between the back of the unit and the mounting surface for these wires. My two options were to use an air conditioning vent clip or the windshield suction cup. I chose the vent because I didn't want the unit in the sunlight. At night, the unit is very bright. You can turn down the brightness of the screen, but the buttons are backlit with a piercing blue light that can't be adjusted. The rotary knob is especially bright. It looks like I have a big blue glow stick in my car at night The programming is pretty good. Sirius carries every NFL game, and nearly all the college football games, which is exactly what I was looking for. They also play a lot of the NBA and NHL games, but I've not paid much attention to them. They have three comedy stations, and several talk/news (including the BBC) radio and sports radio stations. On the other hand, all of their music stations do not meet my sound quality expectations. I have a decent aftermarket stereo, and the music stations sound worse than local FM. They're not terrible, but the difference between listening to a song on Sirius and on a CD is jarring. That said, they have a fair amount of genres represented. You'll hear songs on Sirius that you'll never hear on your local radio. I've had limited customer service interaction, but it's been all bad. I chose the three month program to start off with. Sirius doesn't give you a very detailed invoice on the billing screen It simply shows Subscription charge, Activation Fee, and Taxes. The Subscription charge on the invoice did not match what plan stated it should be, it was about.

XMP3 handsfree BROWN I have XMP3 radio for Christmas '08 (much cheaper now, if you're thinking about it, and Sat Radio on the best available!) And I wanted to get the car kit for it too. I only waited a few months for the price to come down and now I have one. If you want to hear your new XMP3 radio in your vehicle you probably want that too! If you have had previous XM car radio kit that includes the same thing (good thing), extra remote, antenna, etc., except this time no cassette adapter, only one stereo stereo adapter cable for direct input, if you have that, in your car. The manual says that if the owners do not have a contribution to your radio or are using a stereo cassette player and has a cassette adapter, you need one of the two FM modulators for XM to listen to him as FM modulator capabilities must be the basis for this kit, not the radio. In fact, I had this car kit for my Gold Wing motorcycle I've had my SKYFi2 set up on it and it was just exchange it for the database and change the power adapter for 5 XMP3 Volt. I have the FM modulator line on the bike and it works all great. To be honest, if the display is SKYFi2 easier to read in direct sunlight, and it's a bigger screen. Car into a truck / color screen would be nice if XMP3. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. XMP3 Car by Bobby J. Ridenour This kit contains everything needed to connect your XMP3 player to the car if you have an "Aux" input. The cable connecting the cradle to my "Aux" input did not work. I must have another. By comparing one with another kit I had, it seems that the card was a little bit more than it should be. This helped move the connections past there CREDITS spots into the jack. Overall, the kit will do the work that is expected. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Okay, but not everything I expected By T. Krohn My biggest problem with this car kit is what none of the descriptions tell you. You can't use the FM Modulator without an FM Direct kit or similar adapter. The modulator is too weak to reach you car radio reliably without it. If you're like me, and looking for a way to listen to your XMp3 through your car radio, buy the FM direct kit also. Now Kelly, I'll start by saying if you want a bass amp-intensive, then go for a 1k amp. for money, this amp rocks! I got 2 10 "Polk Audio Momo subs and looks great. I've heard some people as less amps go into protection mode often. This amp has never cut. I ran all this was in a truck without A / C in the south every day I can not believe how cool it is to the touch! I put the button on the main floor of an amp to about 11 hours and does it well. One of my colleagues (a freak car audio) listened to my setup and said that I should come to a competition. I am a litte too old for this (GRIN-smile). One last thing, spend most of your $ $ $ on good and less of the final speakers. The system sounds better then the other way. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful. VERY NICE AMP FOR THE MONEY!! By Aaron Mash I am very happy this Kenwood amp I am running one kicker cvr and it pushes it hard. Like it says it can run 2 ohm great. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Customers most useful reviews 17 of 17 people found this review helpful. Perfect Pitch "Home Theater in a Box." W. Mallick The price point of this Yamaha receiver should be someone who does not live in a small apartment or in a really tight budget, a good new all-in-one system. I had this receiver and the speakers were using medium quality, and the sound was still very natural. I've been with Yamaha products for years and have never been disappointed. Here are my advantages: - Automatic Calibration: Using the included microphone, I could configure my speakers in less than a minute, and my surround sound is very natural. It 'also automatically adjusts the equalization of the center speaker to match the front speakers. I left the default calibration and watched several movies, and have been completely satisfied with the results. -Natural Sound: The sound, the amp is very transparent, and even with the use of signal processing, it seems the resulting sound is natural, it does not hear too tiring to my speakers a little better with acoustic music, but everything from Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker , Bad Religion, Thievery Corporation, Carl Craig, and Iggy Pop sounded clear and "alive". In the past I have had a Sony receiver, and it sounded good with the only "real" CD. MP3 playback Enhancement: When using an iPod or MP3 playback my Philips HDD / DVD recorder, the sound was greatly improved, but not artificially so with Yamaha's "Music Enhance" processing. This algorithm was developed to compressed music sounds better, and with high quality rips (192kbs or better) you can not really tell the difference from the original CD. -IPod Dock: Get the Yamaha iPod dock, but check around for the best price. Got mine for around $ 50 from an Amazon dealer. The iPod dock lets you control the iPod from the Yamaha remote, and if you hit "display" it will load the song list into the receiver and you can browse the menus using your TV and the Yamaha remote There are caveats with this, see the Cons. I will say, that the speed of managing the iPod with the remote is very fast, and the whole iPod experience is much faster than using Apple's Front Row to control iTunes (OS X only). The current song is displayed, scrolled as needed, on the receiver's display. The iPod menu is displayed your TV and using the remote buttons, it is very quick to move through the menus. -Bright Orange/Yellow Display: Yamaha has kept with their tradition of using a bright orange/yellow display that is easy to read day or night. I can even see the iPod song titles during the day with little problem. -Remote Control: The remote control is very well-built, stands up to dropping, and is well organized. I was able to setup my Sony TV and my DirecTV Tivo with no problems. OK, here are my beefs I must state that for the money, you get a plethora of features without sacrificing sound quality. But, as expected, there are a few sacrifices to be made: -No Video Transcode: C'mon guys, analog video processing chips are like 10 cents a piece, would it really hurt to allow users to mix and match video inputs and have the video signals appear on all the video outs simultaneously? What I am saying is that the composite, S-Video and component signal paths are isolated from each other. (Sony receivers will transcode the inputs to all the outputs. But, Sony sound is lackluster) -FM Sensitivity. They could do a better job with the FM stereo blend, and include a tuning meter. I only listen to a couple of stations and a tuning meter would make it easier to "aim" my antenna. If the signal isn't strong, the highs aren't adequately blended to remove all the static and you have to switch to mono. -iPod Caveats: Don't get me wrong, I am addicted to my Yamaha iPod dock. But here is my (minor) complaint list: -You have to hit "Display" to load the iPod menu This occurs very quickly (I wish my car iPod integration worked this well.) But, there should be a system setting to do this automatically if you.

I ended up staying up way too late last night setting this up. I purchased the Pioneer 1019 after a lengthy decision process between the Denon 1910, Onkyo 607 and Yamaha 765. I needed 4 HDMI so the earlier models wouldn't work and I was also limited in footprint depth so it was these 4. I went with the Pio because I've always been a fan of the sound and quality and each of the others had one or two things wrong (Denon not available, Onkyo quality issues (?), Yammy no assignable inputs). My one concern with the Pio going in was the revamped amps and the decline in weight. Would it impact quality of sound and power? Based on my early tests, NO. This unit has a great, clean sound with lots of detail at low levels and high. I did not hear any hint of strain. Design While the unit is smaller and lighter than the 1018 it doesn't look `cheap' and it still has enough bulk to it to make you think it has power It looks great in the rack. Remote is a bit confusing but I won't use that much after setup and the Harmony database had all the relevant codes, a nice surprise for such a recent release. The Setup Process It was pretty easy to get all of the speakers and components hooked up. The manual stinks but I had spent a fair amount of time with the manual online in advance and after a few reads you can fill in the blanks. It took me about an hour to get all of the old equipment out and the new equipment in. Assigning the inputs was relatively straightforward. Renaming inputs was awkward due to the way they handle text input but it was very flexible. I had a little trouble assigning the Optical audio signal from my Macbook along with an HDMI input. I first tried to assign the optical directly to an HDMI input but you can't do that. Instead I had to assign both the HDMI and Optical to an entirely different Input Name (I chose DVR) It worked fine but I suspect that means I really lost a video input since I can't send anything else to the original HDMI input. Not a huge deal as I don't use all the inputs but it was still annoying. I haven't done MCACC yet but I did use the manual speaker setup and my speaker settings from my old Sony AVR and input those here. That was pretty easy and even with this rudimentary setup the sound was great. Even my wife (who is happy with TV speakers alone) commented on the improvement in quality. I ran though some of the DSPs and effects but I prefer to set everything to DIRECT, especially on BDs but it was nice to use the Extended Stereo for my iPod and get sound from all of the speakers. Video I had lots of questions on the video scaler. I agree with most posters that you should not buy an AVR for this capability. Most TVs will do a better job than any $500 AVR. My TV is a 2006 model though and it has pretty average scaling so I wanted to see how it would look I hooked up my Comcast DVR with both HDMI and with Component/Optical to gauge the difference. HDMI looks great (and no scaling, of course) but there was no impact on visual signal. I did not have any annoying audio lags either. Component also looks really good for HD signals. I could not tell the difference between the HDMI and Component signals on HD channels. I then tried it on some SD channels with the scaler set to 1080p. The AVR did fine but it wasn't any better than my TV. No worse either but then I already mentioned my scaler is pretty average. So, as I said earlier, don't buy the unit for the scaler but it's not a negative either. Just try it for your sources and TV and it may or may not generate any improvement in PQ. The good news is that it does a very good job of upconversion (switching analog signals to digital) which means you can have 6 HD sources (4 HDMI and 2 Component) which is nice The one odd thing I found was in the aspect ratio settings for 4:3 signals.
