In general, this is a great sounding receiver, and I'm sure if my speakers to replace factory for 12 years, the sound quality even better. I will list some of the pros and cons I have this equipment in a few days I owned it: PROS: 1) The controls are simple to use and to allow the driver to quickly access the different functions. Most of the buttons (except the presets) are grouped on the right side of the face, so you can not reach too far. There is a big button that you can adjust volume and scroll through menu options. I personally prefer the controller button to a button, but that's me. In that respect, this unit comes with a slim remote control has glow-in-the-dark buttons. It 'easy to use and is small enough where you can easily store 2) The white on black screen LCD is nice and bright even in direct sunlight. This is one reason that I did not go with a Pioneer comparable price (which is also a unit too large). The design and clear display and clear the Sony won me over. The red color of the face buttons initially daunting. Does not correspond to my inner light green at all. However, the lighting is subtle and appealing, and avoids turning my car into the "machine for Christmas." 3) It 'was pretty easy to install. Among the instructions and those who came with my kit, it was pretty obvious that I was hooked. (I recommend buying a good pair of wire strippers, cable like Sony are not pre-stripped). 4) The features are great for the price. Besides the FM / AM tuner and CD, you get an auxiliary input so you can connect to your MP3 player (The main reason I installed an aftermarket stereo) You can also find a complete set of preset equalizer of settings, and personal settings, so you can sound how you want. 5) Stereo system itself has three ports (not sure of the technical term) in the back so you can connect the amp, subs, etc. It really helps you if you want a comprehensive and powerful system, but is good before you just replace the factory equipment (like me). 6) Radio reception is pretty good. I can collect all the major stations, and the lower frequency College in the city. 7) There is a subtle for Sony is that I really appreciate: When switching on the device: volume of silent for what was your last setting. It's a nice way to avoid jarred at home when you contact. Not an advertised feature, but I find it. 8) This stereo has a card that can be used in various locations across the country to get it installed professionally I wanted to do it myself, so I do not use (must be something similar). But believe me, if I can successfully install this thing, so you can! But if you do not want to go through the hastle, it's nice to just let soemwhere pro and have a hook up. Disadvantages: 1) Some of the presets are a bit "poor. Some presets are too heavy for my taste trebble (Space for example), so they are pretty useless. (What I like is" Xplod "which is based on reality and emphasizes the bass on one track, but do not neglect the high or medium). Again, there is a custom preset, so you can change the sound, but you prefer. Or just turn off the EQ, which produces a pleasant sound neutral. The presets are all named cheese as 'Gravity' and 'space' and their differences are not obvious just by reading them. 2) It would be nice if the remote's buttons light on LCDs or something and not just glow in the dark, unlike But it's a small criticism. All in all, this is a great unit for price, and I can really recommend it despite some of the sub-par presets. For me the advantages outweigh the disadvantages ..
